Simonswerk decided to use a DECT Alternative
SIMONSWERK GmbH, based in Rheda-Wiedenbrück in Germany's East Westphalia region, is Germany's leading provider of hinges and hinge systems for doors. Some 500 employees work at headquarters in Rheda-Wiedenbrück, the production facility in Bad Heiligenstadt (Thuringia) and the locations in England and Poland. The company is active in over 60 international markets and represented in 19 countries by companies or independent subsidiaries.
SIMONSWERK planned to purchase a new DECT system to improve the internal reachability of the mobile employees from the production area (technical areas) who move around the premises. Setting up this type of system would have required installing a great number of DECT antennas, with a correspondingly high technical effort and financial outlay.
Therefore, SIMONSWERK decided to use Octopus Mobility Services from T-Systems. This service enables seamless integration of mobile phones into companies' telecommunications infrastructure.
Rather than DECT phones, the company's employees received Nokia and BlackBerry mobile phones, which were integrated into the telecommunications infrastructure as extensions. Mobile phone software provides a menu with the familiar functions of an extension in the display. The convenient operation this provides ensures high user acceptance.
A clearly arranged web interface enables easy system administration. New users can be set up in the system with just a few clicks.
In a second step, the sales and service employees will also benefit from better reachability at a single phone number (the office number) and a home office connection.
