CENIT AG: Improved reachability the world over

Over 100 CENIT AG employees can use their mobile phone from anywhere in the world with the same functions they are used to using with their office phone. The mobile phones of these employees were integrated into the PBX as a mobile extension. This enables them now, for example, to forward calls using their mobile phone. All settings for reachability and the delivery of voice messages can be configured conveniently and switched on or off using the mobile phone.  The results after two years of use: Employees are reached more easily and the company is paying less in wireless charges.

The Customer

The employees of the worldwide-operating CENIT AG work on the move in the company's locations or on projects at customer locations, such as consulting or installing software solutions. Most of the customers are small or medium-sized businesses, especially from the field of the automotive industry. Aside from that, large companies like aerospace company EADS or insurance company Axa utilize CENIT's services.

The challenge

In order to improve employee reachability for both callers and mobile parties, the company searched for a solution that could be easily integrated into the new VoIP PBX. Every mobile employee already had a company mobile phone and a fixed-line connection. Employees staying temporarily in the USA, in turn, use a SIM card from an American provider. The objective was to support individual users in their mobile work while better integrating them into the company. For example, one goal was to give them the flexibility to change the previously inflexible call forwarding of the fixed-line connection to the mobile phone, without needing a computer to do so.

The solution

In the process of converting the PBX to Voice-over-IP (VoIP), the company decided in favor of the Teleserver Mobile Pro by Speech Design. This solution was recommended by Siemens, the telephone system supplier. "The setup was extremely easy," said Marco Haupt, system administrator of CENIT AG. The installation was as easy as plug-and-playinstall the unit, plug in the connections, and the system is ready to use.

    Charges are generated at headquarters, making recordkeeping and accounting easier. Personal calls are accounted for separately. CENIT has a uniform contract with a wireless carrier that also covers international connections. Since the wireless solution was installed, the charges incurred have fallen.

    When calling via Teleserver Mobile Pro, the employee mobile phones transmit only the fixed-line telephone number to the outside. This improves reachability and communication with customers, who only have to remember one number.

  • One voice mailbox
    A single voice mailbox notifies the user of all voice messages. All messages can now be retrieved conveniently on the computer or mobile phone.

  • Personal conference room
    Each user has a personal phone conference room. This allows every employee to invite others to a conference call quickly and easily. The conferences can be scheduled and carried out without administration or setup effort.

Initial situation

Before the switch, the fixed-line and wireless connections were not integrated. Customers seeking to contact the specialists had to know the mobile phone number or be connected by the switchboard. Back in the office, often both the fixed network phone and the mobile phone would ring, which meant additional stress.

Solution

Connecting the PBX and the Teleserver Mobile Pro allows new functions to be introduced that give employees on the road the same convenience they enjoy from their fixed-line connection in the office. All they have to do is press a button on their system telephone in the office, and call forwarding is activated or incoming calls are forwarded to different numbers depending on the time. In addition, all new functions can be used conveniently from on the road on a mobile phone.
