Installation
BlackBerry Installation
BlackBerry Desktop Manager
- Unpack the ZIP-file BlackBerryFMCMobilityClient<Version>.zip.
- Copy the files (FMCMobilityClient.alx, FMCMobilityClient.cod) to a directory of your choice.
- Start the "BlackBerry Desktop Manager" (supplied with every BlackBerry phone).
- Start the Application Loader program.
- Following the instruction until the Select device application windows appears.
- Use Add to add the FMCMobilityClient.alx. module.
- Complete the installation with Next.
- Remove and then re-insert the battery (system-reset).
- Check and, if necessary, change the permissions required for the client in
Options -> Security Options -> ApplicationPermissions -> FMCMobilityClient
Following authorities are required for the functionality of the client:
- Connections-> telephone
- Interactions-> Interprocess-communication
- Interactions-> Keystroke-injection
- User data->PIM
BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES)
- Share the folder "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion" on the BES with read permissions.
- Create the new folder "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Applications\FMCMobilityClient"
Unpack the ZIP file <tt>BlackBerryFMCMobilityClient<Version>.zip</tt>.
Copy the files (<tt>FMCMobilityClient.alx</tt>, <tt>FMCMobilityClient.cod</tt>) into "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Applications\FMCMobilityClient"
Start the command "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader\Loader.exe /index" for the first installation or "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader\Loader.exe /reindex" for an update.
Start the "BlackBerry Manager".
Select "BlackBerry Domain -> Software Configurations" and start the task "Add New Configuration"
- Fill the field "Configuration Name" with a proper name
- Under "Device Software Location" use "Change..." to select the previously shared folder ( e.g. \\BESServer\shared ).
- Select within "Applikation Software" the "FMCMobilityClient".
- Select the "Delivery" option "Wireless".
- Create a new program policy using "Policies.." with following options:
- Interprocess Communication = Allowed
- Internal Network Connections = Allowed
- Phone Access = Allowed
- PIM Data Access = Allowed
- Event Injection = Allowed
BlackBerry Device Keystore = Allowed
Go to "BlackBerry Domain -> Servers -> Your Server"
- Mark all user which should receive the FMCMobilityClient software.
- Press the right mouse button and use "Assign Sofware Configuration" to select the previously created software configuration.
- Press the right mouse button again and use "Deploy Applications" to start the deployment.

Setting of Function Numbers
Function numbers enable a remote control of Teleserver Mobile Pro. Basically, these are extension numbers which are reserved for special functionalities and which are already configured in the systems during installation (s. Administration Manual). Now, the FMC Mobility Client needs to be configured accordingly.
- Keep available the function numbers of Octopus Mobility Services
- Open: Options -> FMC Mobility Client functions.
- In Function part 1 set the extension number corresponding to each function.
- To proceed put the cursor on Function and scroll with Space to next function.
- Do not change entries in Function part 2/3!
- Save the settings and close FMC Mobility Client Functions.
- Please check the functions in the FMC Mobility Client.
